Hello All!

This is the first full day of orientation in the BVS unit 303. 24 volunteers have gathered together in New Windsor, Maryland with one thing in common. To serve The Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind which we intend to do over the next year or two with BVS and for he rest of our lives. We are here to learn about service, projects, discernment, and so much more. We come openly knowing that where we are led to be is done by none other than The Lord our Father.

Our days are filled with three sessions a day along with meals which are cooked by volunteers, we participate and leas devotions, fun games and activities, intriguing conversations and the want to always know more. We are here to represent the Church of the Brethren well. As of right now we could be looked upon as planes on a runway, we are checking to make sure all signals are go, our feet are held firmly in our homeland, our minds are prepared with the different adventures we may encounter; and yet we have no idea what lies ahead. We have family and friends in the watchtower above us always looking out and we no that on the way there is a story that lies within every being on the plane.

Until next time,

Michael, how exciting to hear from you all the way from BVS-land! It sounds like you are gearing up for a very interesting service project. Please stay in touch and let us know how things are going. We miss you in McPherson!

Keep us posted on where you’re going and what you’re doing, Michael. It’s so encouraging to see young adults like you doing BVS. If I hadn’t fallen in love with Herb and walked with him to the altar, I would have done BVS, too! 🙂

Thank you Jeanne! It is great to be able to serve! I have heard a lot of reasons (excuses really) for people not doing BVS but I have to say, yours is the best, most meaningful and romantic reason not to have done BVS! 🙂
